Jenson has added 178 Iveco Daily 3.5-tonne dropsides to its fleet to support its network of 250 equipment rental branches across the country.

The expansion of the builders' fleet includes Daily chassis cabs with a 3,450mm wheelbase and larger 3,750mm models designed to carry longer loads. Joining Jeuston's fleet of 1,600 vehicles, the Daily's robust chassis based chassis supports a significant load capacity, enhancing the vehicle's ability to transport heavy equipment efficiently. The model also offers a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, perfect for towing a generator and other large equipment.

“These cars are right for us,” he explained Jewson fleet manager Darren O'Donnell. “They can haul large plant equipment like JCB while moving cement mixers and electrical equipment. This towing and loading capability means that one vehicle is put on site for delivery instead of two.”

The vehicles feature lightweight bodywork by the Bevan Group, designed to maximize cargo space and facilitate loading by lifting the DEL tail. Safety features include handrails on the dropside bodywork to aid loading and unloading.

Cost efficiency was a key consideration for Judason. The model with the 136hp 2.3-litre diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission has 18% increased clutch durability and oil change intervals of over 200,000 miles. Daily's turning circle is especially useful for moving around tight areas of construction sites.

Darren O'Donnell added: “A key element of our new fleet was a reliable maintenance and repair network. Iveco's truck-based attitude to get the car back on the road quickly is exactly what we were looking for. The tourist truck and van dealership provides a great service that we appreciate.”

The 'Business' standard of these cars includes manual air conditioning, cruise control, front fog lights, and electrically heated mirrors. With an average annual mileage of 22,500, comfort features such as Hi-Comfort memory foam seats and 'City Mode' steering wheel enhance the overall driving experience.

Iveco's light business unit director, Mike Cutts, commented: “Jewson's busy fleet needs to be filled with reliable vehicles capable of transporting large loads. The Daily is an ideal candidate because of its incredible towing ability and payload thanks to its sturdy truck-based chassis. “
